Does Homekeeper provide comprehensive maid insurance for domestic helpers in Singapore?
What is the Security Bond for Foreign Domestic Workers (FDW)?
The security bond of $5,000 applies to employers of foreign domestic workers in Singapore. The purpose of a security bond is to ensure that employers remain responsible for the maintenance and welfare of their helpers. This includes prompt salary payment as well as timely repatriation of these foreign domestic helpers. Should the employer violate the Work Permit conditions, the security bond stands to be forfeited. However, if the maid is found to have breached these conditions on her own behaviour, the employer will not be held liable.
If the foreign domestic helper in Singapore is not found within 1 month from the date the Work Permit was cancelled, $2,500 (half of the $5,000 security bond) will be forfeited to cover the repatriation and other related costs.
